THE WALK:
Leave at home the stress from the week, switch off your phone and come with me to explore the Middenduin near Haarlem!
The hike is around 5 km and we will walk through the fields, the forest and the open dune landscape.
During the walk, I will tell you about the local flora and fauna which inhabit this region. Did you know that from here there is a viewpoint where you can spot the European bison? We will try to spot them and I will tell you about their story and their ecology.
You don’t have to be particularly fit for this excursion, but please mind that we will walk for a good hour and a half.
Afterwards you can take a dip with me in the lake Het Wed (near the Visitor Center Kennemerduinen).
MEETING POINT:
Café Klein Centraal, Overveen Train Station Tetterodeweg 4, 2051 EE Overveen
Please check 9292.nl or Google Maps for how to get there.
We will meet on Sunday, the 20th of March, at 14:00 in the afternoon. We will walk for about 1/1,5 hour and we will end our walk at the Visitor Center Kennemerduinen, ready to jump in the lake Het Wed! From here, we can go back to the station together.
You don’t have to swim if you don’t feel like doing it.
If you are among the brave ones, let’s arrive at the lake well energized by the walk and jump into the cold water. You will be very proud of yourself afterwards 🙂
WHAT TO BRING:
Bring your own water and energy snacks if you need it.
WEATHER:
“There’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing.”
I never cancel my excursions because of poor weather, unless the Meteorological Institute (https://www.knmi.nl/nederland-nu/weer/verwachtingen) issues a code Orange or Red, which it means it’s not considered safe to be outdoors.
If this is the case, I will reschedule the walk. Otherwise, grab your best rain jacket, don’t fear the discomfort and come with me. You will be proud of yourself afterwards!
COST:
The cost for this excursion is 13,50 euro per person.
This event is for a small group of people, in order to keep it comfortable for everyone. Don’t wait to reserve your spot!
